Sex offender registrations in Pierce County

The following convicted sex offenders have recently registered to live in Pierce County.

Each is categorized as a Level 3 sex offender — those considered most likely to commit similar crimes. None is wanted by law enforcement officers at this time.

All convicted sex offenders registered to live in Tacoma and Pierce County are listed on the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department’s website at piercesheriff.org.

Joseph M. Peterson

Age: 34.

Description: 5-feet-9 and 230 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Where registered to live: Transient, Pierce County.

Criminal history: Convicted in 2005 of third-degree child assault with sexual motivation in Pierce County for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl. Convicted in 2007 of second-degree assault for sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman after meeting her. Convicted in 2010 of third-degree child molestation in Pierce County for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl at a fitness center.

Sex offender treatment: He participated but did not complete a treatment program while incarcerated.

Gary L. Cameron

Age: 64.

Description: 6-feet-2 and 187 pounds, with brown/gray hair and blue-gray eyes.

Where registered to live: 6800 block of 86th Street SW, Lakewood.

Criminal history: Convicted in 1993 of first-degree child rape in Grant County for molesting an 8-year-old boy for two months. Convicted in 1985 of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes for sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled 16-year-old boy. Convicted in 1985 of indecent liberties for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

Sex offender treatment: It is unknown if he participated in a treatment program while at the state’s Special Commitment Center.

Dustin Dransfield

Age: 28.

Description: 5-feet-5 and 135 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Where registered to live: 2300 block of Fawcett Avenue Tacoma.

Criminal history: Convicted in 2009 of first-degree child rape in Pierce County for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

Sex offender treatment: He participated in a treatment program while incarcerated.
